California public utility Pacific Gas and Electric (PCG) faces a state-mandated deadline to expand its share of renewable energy production. Enter startup GreenVolts with a 2mw solar power plant based on its modular, state of the art compact concentrating solar photovoltaic technology. The pair have partnered and the new GreenVolts solar plant located near Byron, CA will begin delivering electricity in 2010 under a 20-year power purchase agreement with PCG to power more than 1500 homes.
